Abhilash is a leader in McKinsey’s banking practice with over 13 years of experience in banking and financial services. He has a proven track record of working with a wide range of banks—retail and commercial—and financial institutions to transform businesses and address key challenges related to efficiency, growth, operating models, and overall strategy. He leads our small and medium-sized business (SMB) banking efforts.

Examples of his recent client engagements include the following:

  • designing and institutionalizing an enterprise-wide operating efficiency program for a global banking institution
  • launching an analytics-led growth engine to help a regional institution drive approximately 15 percent improvement in frontline productivity in the SME and middle-market business lines
  • reimagining end-to-end client origination experience across business banking and middle-market commercial banking for a large regional bank with a focus on unlocking in-year efficiency, growth, and client experience
  • helping a captive auto-finance institution on a wide range of strategic topics across product strategy, credit strategy, and inorganic growth strategy
  • assisting a global payments institution focused on the SME segment with enterprise-wide efficiencies across all business lines and functions
  • launching analytics-led frontline growth transformation program for a mid-cap regional institution to help grow deposits by more than 20 percent in 18 months

Prior to joining McKinsey, Abhilash interned and worked across global markets, consumer and small business banking, and commercial and transaction banking. He lives with his wife and daughter. In addition to his client engagements, Abhilash is a frequent speaker at industry events.
