Leads retail transformations at the intersection of technology and operations; has significant expertise in merchandising, supply chains, purchasing, M&A, and more

Andrew is a partner in McKinsey’s Chicago office and a leader in our retail operations work. He heads the firm’s store operations efforts for North America. In addition to his role in retail operations, he has significant experience with at-scale transformations that focus on cross-functional and technology-enabled change. This includes work across merchandising, supply chains, purchasing, and strategy. He has served retailers across North America, Australia, and throughout Europe.

Some of his project experience includes the following:

  • leading the transformation of a multicategory retailer in North America, which entailed revamping store operations, customer experience in supply chain, omnichannel fulfillment, and procurement
  • leading a transformation of tech-enabled stores for a global restaurant chain, including using automation and robotics to improve customer experience, employee engagement, and efficiency
  • creating and building McKinsey’s first-ever tech-enabled retail store, which became a test lab for in-store technology
  • leading the COVID-19 response for a North American retailer’s store operations, including a plan for reopening and building it back stronger
  • leading McKinsey’s work to bridge the gap between frontline workers’ needs and corporations’ support for them during this period of significant change

Andrew also sits on the board of directors for Cara Collective, a not-for-profit organization in Chicago that works to eradicate situational poverty. In between his previous and current roles at McKinsey, he managed new product development for a beverage company. He and his wife live in Chicago with their two children.
