How to Apply

Your interviews at McKinsey are the first steps toward an enriching personal and professional journey of growth and opportunity.

The first step to joining McKinsey’s Belgium & Luxembourg office, whether you are a student or an experienced professional, is to prepare your application, which should include the following:

  • a cover letter explaining your interest in consulting, and McKinsey in particular; if you are not in Belgium or Luxembourg, please note why you wish to relocate
  • a curriculum vitae detailing your academic performance, previous jobs and internships, professional experience, extracurricular activities (sports and associations), and hobbies
  • your end-of-academic-year results (grade and percentage) for each year in university and any relevant work references

Please note that in addition to English fluency, we ask for full professional proficiency (level C1) in one of the following languages:

  • Brussels: French or Dutch
  • Luxembourg: French, Dutch, or German

What happens next?

After the initial screening stage, eligible applicants will be invited to play Solve, McKinsey’s digital assessment game, to be completed within a set deadline. There is no preparation needed; the game is designed to ensure everyone has an equal chance at being successful, regardless of background or expertise.

After completing the game, we will extensively review your application, including your Solve results. We will inform you approximately two weeks after the application deadline whether you are invited to a first round of interviews.

During the first round, you will have three one-hour interviews with McKinsey consultants who will answer your questions, share their perspectives, and test your personal skills and ability to solve problems based on case studies. These case studies are likely to be wide-ranging discussions that assess your approach to situations you may not be prepared for, your problem-solving skills, your intellectual curiosity, and your insight.

Should you receive a positive decision, you will be invited to attend a second round of three one-hour interviews in the following weeks. If these final interviews are successful, you will receive an offer to join us.
