Raphael leads Leap by McKinsey—the firm’s business building offering—across Asia–Pacific. He serves clients across China and Southeast Asia on both the strategic and executional aspects of their digital-business building programs. Raphael combines technical expertise with natural leadership to orchestrate entire digital-business building teams from product managers, designers, and growth hackers to software engineers and data scientists.
Raphael has spent most of his career ideating, building and scaling digital businesses, with a focus on financial services, consumer-facing industries, and analytics. So far, he has successfully launched and scaled seven digital businesses across Southeast Asia and China, partnering with the client from concept to implementation to growth, and is currently working on several more.
Examples of Raphael’s recent client work include the following:
- In China, he worked with a leading bank to design and implement a breakthrough digital-banking business model; launched a co-living business model for a leading real-estate player; helped a Taiwanese bank build a digital financial-services business; supported a premium auto-company in incubating new data-driven business models.
- In Southeast Asia, he worked with a conglomerate in setting up their analytics and data-monetization business, helped a bank launch a big data–enabled digital consumer-finance business, assisted a top telco in scaling their mobile payment venture, and helped financial-services players in Indonesia and Vietnam launch new digital banks.
Raphael graduated top of his MBA class at INSEAD in Singapore.
