Jae advises leaders in process-intensive industries as they pursue world-class operational performance. Focused on the engineering, construction, heavy-industry, and oil and gas sectors, he helps executives promote long-term growth and build sustainable value.

Since joining McKinsey, Jae has focused on supporting operational transformation. Often called upon to advise on engineering, procurement, and construction (EPC) projects, he has particular expertise in EPC project turnaround. He also helps companies optimize their portfolio and set effective growth strategy, including pursing mergers and acquisitions. Jae has worked for industry-leading companies in China, Korea, Qatar, Saudi Arabia, and Taiwan.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • transforming the operations of a multiyear EPC project for a leading heavy-industry company
  • developing a value-up strategy for a global engineering and construction company, where the work unlocked shareholder value through portfolio optimization and reorganization
  • helping a leading energy company evaluate strategies for new business entry
  • conducting due diligence assessments and implementing a postmerger integration plan for a leading engineering and construction company

Jae is a sought-after speaker and writer and contributes expert perspectives to conferences and newspapers, such as the Dong-A Real Estate Forum and the JoongAng Ilbo. He also directed the Korean edition of No Ordinary Disruption, a McKinsey Global Institute book evaluating four forces colliding and transforming the global economy. Given his interest in economic trends and their effects, Jae has been invited to advise government agencies on their infrastructure-related initiatives.
