As a business analyst (BA), you’ll work on client projects as part of a team and take responsibility for problem solving. You’ll play a key role in gathering and analysing data, interviewing clients, and contributing to the team’s recommendations. After 2 to 3 years developing broad business skills, you can progress to an associate role. As part of the BA program and depending on performance, you can take leave to earn your MBA or other master’s degree (financially supported by McKinsey) or take up a job placement in industry, government or a nonprofit—before resuming your career with the firm.

What we look for

We look for exceptional people from a variety of academic fields and professions. Current students in the final year of your undergraduate degree or working professionals with 1 to 3 years of work experience can apply as a business analyst.

As an associate, you’ll focus on key portions of client projects and work toward managing engagements. You’ll have direct contact with senior clients and a high degree of independence. You might conduct analyses, interview clients and their customers, plan and facilitate workshops, translate conclusions into recommendations, and help design and implement large-scale organisational change programs. You’ll get extensive training to build your core consulting skills and receive ongoing feedback and coaching from teammates and mentors.

Based on your performance, you may move into the role of engagement manager and lead client projects, manage teams, coach junior colleagues, and take responsibility for initiatives within McKinsey.

What we look for

We seek people with different backgrounds, experience, and passions, including a variety of academic fields and professions, such as financial services, life sciences, engineering, and humanities. If you have an undergraduate degree and more than 3 years of work experience, or if you are studying for a master’s degree with 2 or more years of work experience, you can apply as a junior associate. If you are studying for an MBA, or have an advanced degree and more than 4 years of work experience, you can apply for an associate role. McKinsey’s meritocratic values encourage faster progression between junior associate and associate roles, based on performance.

As a summer associate, you’ll experience the day-to-day life of a McKinsey consultant. You’ll be an active member of a consulting team and experience some of the challenges a client project presents. You’ll gather and analyse information, meet client teams, prepare proposals and communications, and present findings to senior client executives.

During your internship, experienced consultants will provide guidance and coaching and you will see our culture, values and spirit firsthand while developing your own network of McKinsey colleagues.

At the end of your internship, you’ll be able to judge whether a career with McKinsey appeals to you, and McKinsey will decide whether to extend you an offer for a permanent position as a full-time consultant.

What we look for

In Singapore, our summer-associate internship is designed for MBA students. It takes place during the summer months and lasts about 8 to 10 weeks. We welcome applications from MBA students in the summer before the graduating year of their degree.

What we look for

Successful candidates will have a university degree and a very strong academic record. We look for people with outstanding problem-solving, analytical, and quantitative skills, as well as interest in economic and financial concepts. You should also have excellent written and verbal communication skills in English and ideally in a local language.
