About Alexei

Alexei brings more than 20 years of experience in leading large-scale operational transformations across various process industries. His work at McKinsey is focused on helping companies transform their operations through building capabilities, incorporating lean techniques, and implementing operational improvements.

Alexei is passionate about not only designing and leading operational transformations but also working closely with companies to see that the changes take hold. He helps coach leaders to role-model change, is hands-on in helping employees develop the capabilities and skills they need to drive continuous improvement, and ensures that the operational improvements are implemented at scale to achieve lasting results.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • leading the transformation of the technical maintenance function for a petrochemical company in Saudi Arabia, reducing equipment breakdown by 5 percent, and increasing maintenance-personnel efficiency by 30 percent
  • applying a holistic lean-production approach to deep coal-mine operations and implementing organizational-efficiency initiatives at scale for a coal-mining company in Russia, increasing the driving rate by 40 percent and reducing operations costs by 18 percent
  • optimizing the capital-overhaul setup and lead time for a chemical-fertilizer company in Russia, reducing capital-overhaul timing by 30 percent
  • designing, coordinating, and leading a multiyear business-system transformation for a steelmaking client in Russia, including developing a business-system office and a continuous-improvement infrastructure

Before joining McKinsey, Alexei was a senior manager of operations for a multinational agriculture company, where he was in charge of setting up and leading a new production plant in Russia. Prior to that, he was a manager of supplier production for an auto manufacturer, where he headed a team coordinating more than 100 suppliers, helped launch new models, and led improvement initiatives for underperforming suppliers.
