Julian is one of our global thought leaders on people and organizational transformations. He coleads our People & Organizational Performance Practice in Germany and Austria. Previously, he led this work for advanced industries as well as public sector and healthcare clients in Europe.
In recent years, Julian has driven major people, organizational performance, and AI programs across industries. His work spans a broad range of people, organizational performance, and AI topics, including enterprise-wide AI strategy, the development of agentic organizations, strategic workforce planning, reskilling, and performance management. He is also the creator and editor of the HR Monitor, the world’s largest HR survey.

Alongside his work at McKinsey, Julian is a professor at Roskilde University in Denmark. With approximately 30,000 academic citations, he ranks among the world’s most-cited scientists. He is also the author of The Lean PhD: Radically Improving the Efficiency, Quality and Impact of Your Research.
