Kate leads McKinsey’s integrated approach to Technology & AI across clients, colleagues, and communities. Bringing firsthand experience as a chief technology officer, she occupies a distinctive vantage point as both an operator and an adviser who can seamlessly translate deep tech into clear operational reality. She is passionate about helping organizations move with speed and purpose amid AI disruption to deliver enduring performance that benefits all stakeholders. She has served on McKinsey’s Enablement Team—the global leadership body that steers the firm—across the tenures of three global managing partners and completed two terms on the firm’s Shareholders Council (board of directors). She also leads McKinsey’s efforts to reimagine the consulting profession with AI as the firm enters its second century of impact.
Kate has a strong track record of partnering with senior leadership teams across all sectors to set bold collective ambitions and build the organizational muscle (mindsets, capabilities, and ways of working) that enables them to achieve, and often exceed, their goals. A recognized authority in digital and AI transformation, she is a member of The Wall Street Journal Tech Council and a sought-after commentator, regularly featured on stages such as the World Economic Forum in Davos, and across outlets including Bloomberg, CNBC, the Financial Times, and The Wall Street Journal. Guided by her core belief that “every tech transformation is actually a people transformation,” Kate focuses on putting humans at the center of change. She codified her frontline experiences as coauthor of The Wall Street Journal bestseller Rewired: The McKinsey Guide to Outcompeting in the Age of Digital and AI.
Outside McKinsey, Kate is a dedicated trustee of Cancer Research UK, the world’s largest independent cancer research organization, and spent a decade as a trustee of Tommy’s, a pregnancy and baby charity. She holds a first-class honors degree in history from Durham University.
