Mazen is the leader of McKinsey’s office in Kuwait office as well our Risk & Resilience Practice in Eastern Europe, the Middle East, and Africa, and a member of the Financial Services Practice. He is an accomplished academic and expert financial economist.
The focus of Mazen’s work is on risk management and regulations, and he specializes in capability building. His past work includes developing and rolling out transformation and modernization programs for a variety of Middle East and North Africa (MENA) financial institutions, upgrading monetary policy and financial stability management capabilities for a number of EU and MENA central banks, and harmonizing the design of banking supervisory regulations and regimes across the GCC.
Mazen’s passion for finance and international economics began in academia; before he came to the world of consulting, he held posts at both the University of Manchester and the American University of Beirut.
He started his consulting career in the financial services practice at Booz & Company, where he led the risk management and regulations practice in the Middle East, and he now has over 12 years of experience in the field.
A native of Lebanon, Mazen is a fluent speaker of Arabic, English, and French. He holds a doctorate in financial economics and remains an active academic in his field.
