Luciano leads McKinsey’s Energy Insights in the Americas. He joined McKinsey in 2009 and has since served clients in the North American unconventionals, global upstream, oilfield services, and midstream sectors, advising them on a variety of strategy and M&A issues.
Examples of Luciano’s recent client work include the following:
- helping a South American oil company understand the implication of light-tight oil and shale-gas developments in the United States—focusing on the downstream and petrochemical market—by creating a view on supply scenarios and their implications on pricing and availability of crudes
- redesigning an international oil company’s strategy, which involved allocating over $100 billion in capital for the 10-year plan and developing a model to assess the impact of changes in asset portfolio on key financial metrics
- supporting a major international oil company in implementing cultural and technical changes across regional business units by creating a structured implementation process, determining training needs, and managing relationships with stakeholders
- helping a manufacturing company understand the refining outlook for North America and developing estimates on heavy refining output required by the client to assess availability of raw materials over the next 10 to 15 years
Before joining McKinsey, Luciano worked as a senior planning analyst at an Argentine oil-and-gas independent with operations in Argentina, Ecuador, and Venezuela.
