Johan coleads McKinsey’s Semiconductor Practice in Europe and serves as a leader in our McKinsey Industrial Software Hub. He has extensive experience serving semiconductor, software, and high tech companies across the entire value chain. Johan advises clients primarily on strategy, operations, and performance transformation.
Recent examples of his work with semiconductor clients include:
- advising a global integrated device manufacturer on its software strategy
- helping a leading foundry expand its front-end operations to Europe
- supporting a global semiconductor client in developing a digital transformation program to optimize manufacturing processes and productivity
- working with a leading semiconductor company on its industrial and automotive growth strategy
In addition, Johan has advised industrial software and high tech clients on:
- technology transitions from hardware to software
- building new software-centric businesses and operating models
- capturing value from digitally enabled services
- executing Software-as-a-Service transitions
- supporting software M&A
Prior to McKinsey, Johan held various executive leadership roles at a leading global industrial tech firm focusing on industrial software.
Johan holds a PhD and MSc in economics and business administration from WHU – Otto Beisheim School of Management.
