About Ankur

Ankur is a senior partner in McKinsey’s Washington, DC, office, where he co-leads our work with government clients across the United States and leads the firm's US defense and security practice. He has more than two decades of experience helping national, state, and local governments, as well as some of the nation’s most vital defense and intelligence organizations, achieve large-scale transformations.

Ankur’s work sits at the intersection of technology, AI, advanced analytics, and operational performance. He helps leaders translate emerging capabilities into measurable impact through digital strategy, technology modernization, and organizational transformation.

Some of his recent work includes:

  • helping the defense industrial base tackle critical operational challenges
  • modernizing manufacturing capabilities for public-sector clients
  • improving maintenance and asset reliability programs
  • advising on capital allocation and supply chain resilience

Before leading McKinsey’s defense and security work in the United States, Ankur led the firm’s digital and analytics work for the public sector across North America. His prior experience spans a broad range of industries, including high tech, telecommunications, financial services, retail, manufacturing, and private equity. Ankur also hosts McKinsey’s annual Insight to Innovation (i2i) Summit, a forum that brings together leaders from government institutions and Silicon Valley to exchange perspectives on technology and innovation.
