Operations & Reliability Engineering

The Operations & Reliability Engineering team is responsible for managing the firm’s entire global IT infrastructure such as servers, network, storage, application & database servers, VoIP and video-conferences, messaging, authentication, identity and many others areas. IT services are provided out of India and Costa Rica. Engineering teams are also located worldwide, primarily in New York, Prague and Düsseldorf.

IT and Cyber Security

Our goal is to establish and maintain a comprehensive IT security architecture and risk mitigation strategy that will ensure the integrity, availability and confidentiality of critical data and systems for the firm. We also provide risk assessment services for new applications and vendors with access to firm and client data. Our approach is to collaborate with firm leadership, sponsor groups and IT stakeholders to develop and implement policies, standards and compliance mechanisms. Cyber security awareness is also in our scope.

Technology & Digital Insights

The Insights team digs out data from across the IT organization and turns them into sophisticated visual analyses. We help product teams make data-driven decisions about their products, infuse applications with analytical features, and prepare dashboards for IT leadership. First and foremost, you have to "feel" data. Look at a table of users, a table of website page views and a table of email campaigns and see how to combine them for meaningful insight. We also take advantage of more tangible skills, especially around data manipulation, machine learning, statistics, visualization and communication.

Development Group

We are the architects and engineers behind the IT solutions that support the Firm’s global business. These solutions include mission critical business applications that are used daily by McKinsey employees worldwide, McKinsey-specific bespoke applications, desktop and mobile applications and state-of-the-art multimedia unified communication and collaboration platforms. Using agile and automated continuous delivery we create and maintain the global infrastructure and middleware that underpins these solutions.

Design & Innovation

The Design & Innovation team collaborates in cross-disciplinary teams – UX Design, Product Management, Engineering and Data Analysts – to design new products and services. We are the voice of user in this process and strive to craft highly engaging and intuitive user experiences. We synthesize user research findings into actionable insights and incorporate usability testing into our regular practices. Our design decisions impact realization of a product vision and intended business outcomes. We fall in love with the problem, not the solution and we do the hard work to make a smaller, simpler product.

Our IT Global Helpdesk Team is a pivotal group within McKinsey’s IT organization. Joining the team as a specialist, you will support all technologies for all business needs and act as the single point of contact for IT requests, be it software/hardware troubleshooting on laptops, tablets and smartphones, connectivity issues, or new equipment requests. We are prepared for whatever comes our way and we receive continuous training in both soft skills and the latest technologies. We make a difference by focusing on the support experience, displaying a highly professional customer service, establishing a partnership, and performing a seamless coordination with other internal support teams around the world as and when required. We efficiently advise and solve needs, both current and foreseen. Our work is highly valued by everyone at McKinsey and we are frequently called lifesavers.

We manage the firm’s purchasing needs (sourcing, purchasing, vendor set up, vendor risk management, order management and transaction reconciliation) in operational expenses such as travel, technology, facilities services, ground transportation, executive recruiting, market research, real estate and other indirect expenses. We are thoughtful advisors, driving our work and relationships, known for our aptitude to balance cost and risk by delivering value to the firm.

Logistics & Administration comprises several teams. However, they all share certain things. For one thing, they all share a purpose - to organize and coordinate. For another, they all believe that client comes first, no matter what. Thus, as a member of L&A, you will not only provide solutions to your colleagues, but also ensure a great, premium end-to-end service experience.

• Services Coordination. When someone requires a new laptop, mobile phone or special software to meet a business need, our Service Coordination team is here to provide end-to-end coordination of the delivery process.
• Mobile Communication Services. This team coordinates and supports the firm’s mobile telecom services, the “soft” side of our mobile solutions. We manage our EMEA colleagues' telecommunications needs, including voice and data services, and account management. We play an integral part in making sure people have all services up and running for a smooth working experience. We also work closely with the Services Coordination team on telecom-related activities.
• IT Logistics. Anytime our colleagues are working offsite – whether in a client team room or at an event – we deliver the technology solutions they need for an “in the office” experience: anything from printers and routers, to onsite laptops and tablets, to whiteboards and pens. Ultimately, we are dedicated to equipping our colleagues with the best possible products and services, and improving the way we provide our service.
• Local Office Administration. In close cooperation with the other teams we are responsible for ensuring a safe and comfortable workplace for all our colleagues. We do all that is needed, from setting up workstations (including internal movements), to organizing kitchen supplies, to transporting employees and guests, to supporting events.
