Survey: Chilean consumer sentiment during the coronavirus crisis

Chileans remain concerned about the COVID-19 crisis and uncertain about economic recovery, with only one in three consumers being optimistic about a quick recovery.

In Chile, the prevailing sentiment is uncertainty. Chileans are mainly concerned about taking care of their families, their safety, and public health. Given the economic uncertainty, Chileans are cutting back on spending and being careful on how to spend their money. Consumers expect to increase their in-store purchases on household essentials and continue to shift to online for entertainment and food delivery and takeout.

These exhibits are based on survey data collected in Chile from September 1–16, 2020. Check back for regular updates on Chilean consumer sentiments, behaviors, income, spending, and expectations.
