About Roman

Roman is part of the procurement leadership team and a core leader in our Electric Power & Natural Gas Practice, where he leads our North American electric-power procurement work.

He has extensive experience in the energy sector, leading purchasing and supply-chain transformations across all main categories of direct and indirect spend, including major capital projects. In addition, Roman has experience in manufacturing and industrial operations and the integration of procurement-optimization levers into comprehensive operational-performance transformations across sectors, including nuclear-power generation, oil and gas, mining, and chemicals.

Today, Roman is focused on developing the next horizon of procurement and supply-chain performance for these sectors—based on the integration of agile execution, digital enablement, and advanced analytics—into core procurement and supply-chain activities.

His recent client work includes the following:

  • developing a multiwave procurement program for a Midwestern electric utility, delivering more than 15 percent cost reduction across the entire third-party spend and addressing more than 20 materials and service categories; conducting a comprehensive redesign of the procurement function; implementing new digital and analytics tools; and designing a capability-building program for procurement staff and key business stakeholders
  • leading a spend and capability diagnostic of more than $5 billion of spend across all categories for a major US utility, prioritizing implementation efforts in electric transmission and distribution hardware, capital services, temporary labor, and IT, delivering more than $300 million in savings; the program was supported by a comprehensive capability assessment, procurement process, and governance improvement, and a design of an agile operating model
  • delivering a comprehensive procurement transformation for a major US utility with more than $3 billion of spend, with deep dives into multiple categories of direct and indirect spend, including professional services; maintenance, repair and operations; fleet; IT; telecom; staff augmentation; and facilities—the impact across all categories was delivered following a total-cost-of-ownership perspective and using a cross-functional and collaborative execution model positioning the procurement organization as a true partner to the business
  • leading comprehensive cost-reduction efforts for multiple nuclear-generation facilities, focused on optimizing on-site demand for all categories, with a special focus on external-services spend, including optimizing contracting methodologies, demand management, and contractor-management processes
