About Reinout

Reinout leads McKinsey’s growth-acceleration services for life sciences companies. With more than 15 years’ experience, he brings deep expertise in marketing and sales transformations. He has guided pharmaceutical, biotechnology, generic-pharmaceutical, medtech, consumer-health, private-equity, and venture-capital clients. His focus includes product launch, portfolio management, marketing, sales, digital analytics, and market access across all therapeutic areas, technologies, and treatments, including small- and large-molecule drugs and cellular- and gene-therapy products.

Reinout’s experience and expertise also include strategy, portfolio management, business development and licensing, M&A (including due diligence), postmerger integration, digital and advanced analytics transformations, R&D, turnaround, and restructuring. His work is global in nature, covering Africa, Asia, Europe, the Middle East, and the United States.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • supporting acquisition and postmerger management, with a specific focus on commercial-organization integration, for the global acquisition of a top pharmaceutical company
  • developing the portfolio strategy, including the prioritization of the overall product portfolio, restructuring of the R&D footprint, and launch of several new initiatives and research areas, for a pharmaceutical company
  • designing the strategy and go-to-market approach, including the review of the global commercial footprint and operating model, for the launch of a key biologic product by a global biotechnology company
  • conducting a commercial-organization transformation, including in-depth customer analytics, development of the regional business-planning process and local commercial strategies, and extensive change-management oversight, for a leading US pharmaceutical company
  • leading a commercial-performance transformation, including revision of product positioning and messaging- and sales-force-effectiveness transformation, at a leading European pharmaceutical company
  • executing the due diligence on European healthcare assets for leading private-equity companies

Reinout is fluent in Dutch, English, and German and conversant in French.
