As the leader of McKinsey's work in insurance claims across Europe, Michael advises clients on holistic claims transformations, leveraging advanced analytics insights to digitize the claims customer journey, drive performance improvements, and establish best-in-class customer experience.

Michael focuses on the entire claims value chain, and is an expert on topics such as digital claims prevention, fraud management, and automated claims management and settlement. Working closely with clients to both develop and implement claims transformation strategies, Michael emphasizes organizational capability building to sustain efforts long-term.

Examples of Michael’s recent work include the following:

  • fully scaling the application of advanced analytics in the claims function for a leading global insurer
  • driving a holistic digital transformation in claims for a top-tier global insurance company with implementation in a major European market
  • redesigning a global claims blueprint for a top-tier global insurance company, including the development of an assessment tool to analyze the status quo and major gaps of the local market's claims operating models
  • building up capabilities for large-scale claims transformations and the effective change program for insurers across major European markets

Michael is the author of several McKinsey articles about challenges confronting the insurance industry, such as insurance fraud and the future of claims. He is also the leader of McKinsey's European Claims Forum, which regularly convenes industry claims leaders and experts to discuss trends and innovations.
