Leads research on technology and the future of work, productivity, small- business development, and financial infrastructure, with a focus on inclusive economic growth.

Maria is a senior fellow with the McKinsey Global Institute (MGI), McKinsey’s business and economics research arm. She leads research on gen AI and the future of work, examining how technological advances are reshaping jobs, skills, productivity, and economic opportunity. Her work explores the implications of AI and automation for workers, businesses, and economies, with a focus on helping leaders navigate a period of rapid technological change.

Maria also leads research on digital identity, data, payments, and financial infrastructure, as well as small-business productivity and ecosystems. Her work has examined the drivers of economic growth and inclusion, including how digital and financial systems can expand access and opportunity and how small businesses can improve performance and resilience.

Prior to joining MGI, Maria was an associate partner in McKinsey’s Financial Services Practice, where she advised financial institutions on strategy, risk, analytics, and talent topics.
