Joe leads McKinsey’s Sustainability Practice in the Middle East. He has a deep understanding of sustainability-related strategy, organization, and operations topics, and significant experience in the energy transition and climate tech domain. Joe has led numerous projects including decarbonization strategies, clean tech investment, energy efficiency, innovation for sustainable development, and new-generation energies in the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) and Europe.
Joe’s recent projects include the following:
- designing and implementing full-fledge a national energy efficiency / demand side management strategy for a GCC state
- enacting the largest clean tech venture builder in the world
- developing and executing a national R&D/Innovation strategy and governance model for a GCC state with a focus on food, energy and health
- developing the 10-year corporate strategy, with a focus on sustainability and new generation energy, for a GCC national oil company
- designing and implementing full potential transformation of a GCC state-owned enterprise including strategy, governance, organization, operating model and shared services model revamp
- defining the industrial development strategy for a GCC government including sectorial development plans for over 20 sectors
- supporting transformation of a GCC government restructuring program, including over 40 initiatives for complete overhaul of government and its capabilities building
Before joining McKinsey, Joe worked as senior leader in consulting in the Middle East specializing in organization and sustainability. He is fluent in Arabic, English, and French.
