Ashka is a partner in McKinsey’s Tech & AI Practice, where she leads work on customer experience, digital transformation, and modernization for large, highly regulated institutions. She helps governments, healthcare systems, and other complex organizations design and launch the digital products, services, and operating models that make them work better for the people who depend on them, bringing together human-centered design, product development, and experience measurement to create lasting change. Ashka is also the architect of McKinsey’s State of the States benchmark, which measures government performance through the experiences of the people it serves.

Examples of her recent client work include:

  • supporting a state health and human services agency to design and launch a statewide initiative that expanded access to behavioral and mental health services for children and youth, combining grants to schools and community organizations, payment redesign, and a digital platform to deliver care
  • helping a state Medicaid agency redesign its end-to-end enrollment experience by aligning the member journey with underlying business processes, making it easier for families to get and keep coverage
  • working with a state motor vehicle agency to transform service delivery across its field network, equipping frontline teams to improve the customer experience through human-centered design
  • building analytics capabilities for a state public health agency to direct resources to the communities that needed them most during public health emergencies
  • partnering with a healthcare provider to design a digital platform that personalizes health recommendations and interventions using behavioral science

A consistent thread across Ashka’s work is building alongside the communities being served, embedding their voices directly into how products and programs are designed. Before joining McKinsey, she worked in product management and design across the technology and healthcare sectors. A proud University of Michigan alumna, she continues to teach and serve on a board at its School of Public Health.
