About Anuj

As a leader in McKinsey Digital and of McKinsey’s global technology-infrastructure and -services work, Anuj focuses on guiding digital transformations of enterprise-technology-service providers. Specifically, he offers support to companies that provide technology services, helping them drive financial-performance change and build and scale their digital services.

Anuj’s work includes developing IT-services businesses’ core strategies, such as setting portfolio strategies for key growth vectors, developing M&A plans, and adjusting go-to-market and delivery models, to compete on digital services. He has also helped multiple leading service providers drive margin expansion through cost transformations and delivery-model modernizations that use lean methodology, analytics, and automation while achieving growth via mergers and sales acceleration. In merger situations, he frequently supports due-diligence efforts, synergy planning, and execution.

Anuj also has deep expertise in driving at-scale analytics transformations, with a focus on strategy and operating model. He has supported telecommunications, gaming, and software clients on analytics transformations.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • supporting deal strategy, M&A execution, and postmerger integration for a merger of large, global IT-services companies, resulting in substantial value capture in the first year of the completed merger
  • directing a multiyear transformation for a leading IT-services company, with a focus on offering strategy, cost transformation, and sales acceleration
  • designing and launching a delivery-modernization effort for a global IT-services company to drive a more than 15 percent productivity improvement by applying lean methodology, analytics, and automation levers to key delivery processes
  • leading the development of a global telecommunications company’s artificial-intelligence strategy, creating a case road map and operating-model design as well as setting up an analytics lab focused on network operations
  • heading a global telecommunications-equipment, -software, and -services provider’s multiyear services-business transformation, including the turnaround of multiple underperforming regions and an end-to-end delivery-process transformation for core service areas
  • supporting a major enterprise software company’s turnaround, using M&A-plan, organization, and operating-model redesign; cost transformation; and sales acceleration through analytics to mitigate churn and drive cross-sell

Anuj started his career with McKinsey in the Atlanta office. After spending more than ten years working with clients in the United States, he transferred to the firm’s Delhi office to participate in India’s technology and digital-disruption wave.

Before joining McKinsey, Anuj worked as a software engineer for IT, consulting, business-process-services, and computer-technology companies.
