About André

André is the managing partner of McKinsey’s Japan office and advises leading companies on a broad range of strategic, operational, and organizational topics—especially in the firm's Automotive & Assembly, Advanced Electronics, Semiconductors, Aerospace & Defense, and Technology, Media & Telecommunications Practices. He is a core member of our Asia leadership team and a long-term member of McKinsey’s Shareholders Council, which is the highest decision body of McKinsey and effectively functions as its board of directors in setting strategic direction and policies.

In his 32-year McKinsey career, André has worked in Munich, Silicon Valley, and New York in numerous leadership roles, such as the global and Americas leader of McKinsey’s Advanced Industries, which comprises the Automotive & Assembly, Advanced Electronics, Semiconductors, and Aerospace & Defense Practices. He also led the High Tech and the Innovation and Technology Management Practices in Europe, Africa, and the Middle East. He serves clients in all these fields around the globe, more recently focusing on Japan.

André holds extensive additional senior leadership roles in support of the firm’s growth, people, and knowledge development. He is leading numerous learning programs to develop capabilities of senior clients and our partners to become effective leaders; for example, he supports the development of new CEOs in his role as co-dean of McKinsey’s Bower Forum.

André is very passionate in supporting the economic development of countries and nations in different capacities, including as an advisor on innovation for different countries and clusters, as a founding member of both National Competitiveness Foundation of Armenia and Armenia 2020—a global “think-tank”—and most recently as a board member of Foundation for Armenian Science and Technology. He has also been actively involved in promoting innovation, tourism, and foreign direct investment in Japan.
