Leads large-scale, tech-enabled and sustainability transformations in the energy sector across Asia; oversees our Operations Practice and the operations excellence program in Southeast Asia

Thomas holds several leadership positions at McKinsey and oversees our work in the Operations Practice as well as the operations excellence program in Southeast Asia. He also leads the McKinsey Academy across Asia. Thomas is a core member of the Innovation & Learning Centers Singapore and Indonesia.

Equally committed to client service, Thomas works with clients in the energy sector with a focus on oil and gas, petrochemicals, power, and basic materials. He is passionate about leveraging data and emerging technologies to improve the operation of energy assets. In addition to leading large, complex transformation programs, he serves clients on topics related to digital technology, advanced analytics, sustainability, energy transition, and operations including manufacturing, supply chain, procurement, and capital productivity.

Select examples of his client work include the following:

  • supporting a national oil, gas, and electric utility company on their net-zero emissions strategy and roadmap
  • strengthening the environmental, social, and governance (ESG) strategy of a global petrochemical company
  • developing a “super app” with more than ten million users for a leading energy company
  • leading an improvement program for a petrochemical company that resulted in more than $300 million EBITDA per year; the program also touched on operations, supply chain, procurement, maintenance, and capital expenditures
  • supporting a large-scale digital and analytics transformation program at a petrochemical company in Southeast Asia
  • enabling a client to maximize chemicals production in real-time through advanced analytics
  • helping reduce lead time to supply electricity by more than 50 percent in over 100 locations in Southeast Asia
  • advising on a capital-productivity transformation program at a natural gas facility that increased productivity by 100 percent
  • leading the transformation of a refinery supply chain, redesigning key processes, revamping the organizational structure, and building team capabilities

Before joining our Jakarta office, Thomas worked in our Chicago, Lyon, and Singapore offices. He served as an officer in the French Army before McKinsey. Outside of work, Thomas loves outdoor adventures and traveling around the world with his wife and son.
