Celebrate women in business

Today is Women’s Entrepreneurship Day, an annual observance to educate, empower, and support women in business worldwide. Women, and especially women of color, are underrepresented across the corporate pipeline, and the “broken rung” remains the greatest obstacle women face on the path to senior leadership, but women are more ambitious than ever, write Emily Field, Alexis Krivkovich, and Lareina Yee in this year’s Women in the Workplace report, developed in partnership with LeanIn.Org. Removing barriers to women’s economic recovery and empowerment is crucial to accelerating progress; entrepreneurship—in its many forms—is a powerful way to make this a reality. Check out these insights on the important role women play in business, meet women who have defied the odds in their respective fields, and understand the gender, cultural, structural, and societal obstacles that must be overcome to support and advance women across industries.
