Who are you?
I am Janthe, a 26-year old engagement manager from the Brussels office. I have a background in commercial engineering (a combination of business and engineering) from the Catholic University of Leuven, after which I joined McKinsey as a business analyst. Outside of work, I love to play tennis and do yoga.
Who did you have lunch with today?
As today is a Friday, I am working from the McKinsey office in Brussels and had lunch with a group of colleagues I started with three years ago. In Brussels, lunch in the office means either ordering food to eat in the office or going downstairs to Café Callens. One of the great things at McKinsey is that projects are generally set up so I spend four days per week (Monday – Thursday) at the client and Fridays at the office. This gives me the opportunity to re-connect with my colleagues and catch up on office related work.
What are your Friday or weekend plans?
Tonight, I am heading to London for the weekend with my mom and sister to help my brother. He is moving apartments. We are driving up there, so we can use the car to move his stuff. It will be a mini road trip. As we almost all live in separate countries (my parents live in Morocco, my brother in London and my sister and I in Belgium), it will be great to spend quality time together.
What type of music makes you feel motivated?
I absolutely love listening to music while I work and frequently put my headphones on when I’m trying to focus, so I really like this question. My current playlist has the full new Angus and Julia Stone album on there (maybe less motivational, but really relaxing) as well as Elusive by Blackwave. At the same time, I am a huge fan of ‘90s and ‘00s music, so when I’m in need of a real energy boost, I’ll put on a playlist with some good oldies.
What is your favorite app?
My favorite app – and surely the one I use the most – is Instagram. It’s a great way to both stay connected with your friends and be inspired by all kinds of new travel destinations and fashion finds. Another app I (at least try to) use frequently is the ‘Sweat’ app, which is full of 30min workouts. I try to do them 2-3 times per week. Given they are short and you don’t need too much equipment, it’s a great and efficient way to work out during the week in a hotel.
