1) Who are you?

I am Insa and I am an associate in the Hamburg Office. I joined McKinsey almost two–and–a–half years ago, after finishing my chemistry degree in London. Currently I am on educational leave, meaning I am off work to earn my MBA at Columbia Business School in New York.

2) What was your favorite moment from this week?

Last weekend, about 80 people from my MBA class went to Koreatown to sing karaoke. Although I am not really a fan of singing, I find it amazing how people bond over their mutual appreciation of a certain song.

3) What was the most difficult moment of the week?

Having an economics problem set, my statistics homework and a 60–page case reading for strategy class, all due the next morning. How could I have ever thought the workload of an MBA would be light compared to consulting?!

4) What did you have for lunch?

Salad from a nearby deli.

5) What are your Friday or weekend plans?

One of the best things about living in New York is that I have had more friends visit me within one month than in Hamburg all last year 😉. This weekend, one of my best friends is coming and I am planning dining, wining, and sightseeing.

6) Do you have a Feel Good Friday tip?

Start early, leave the office by 6pm and never cancel Friday evening plans because you feel really tired from the week.

7) What inspires you?

Having impact. It’s a big concept, but it starts small – having a helpful chat with someone, sending a text to a friend you have not caught up with in a while, helping our clients become even more amazing than they already are…. it’s all inspirational to me.
