Li is a partner based in the Bay Area. She advises private capital investors, healthcare systems, and life science organizations on strategy, operational performance, value creation, and organizational effectiveness. She focuses particularly on the design and execution of complex, large-scale transformations to improve patient experience, accelerate growth, and optimize costs. Her other areas of expertise include clinical operations, workforce excellence, purchasing services and supply chain optimization, revenue-cycle management, and organizational design.
Li’s recent client projects include:
- supporting private capital investors and portfolio company management teams on operational diligence, value-creation planning, and performance-improvement initiatives across healthcare and life sciences
- helping a group of academic medical centers design and implement new productivity targets, tracking tools, and processes in both clinical and ancillary departments, reducing salary spending by 10 percent at some hospitals
- supporting a health system with targets for clinic productivity and premium pay at more than 40 primary care and specialty clinics, delivering savings of 6 to 7 percent in overall labor spending
- advising on the design and implementation of a comprehensive COVID-19 testing strategy and the testing dimension of its broader return-to-work strategy
- working with a major US technology company to design applications for telehealth and virtual collaboration in the wake of the pandemic.
Before joining McKinsey, Li carried out heart valve and colorectal cancer research at the University of Toronto, the University of Calgary, and the German Cancer Research Center. She holds a bachelor’s degree in pathobiology from the University of Toronto.
