About Tarek

Tarek has more than 25 years of experience serving CEOs, boards of directors, and public-sector leaders. He counsels CEOs and senior executives on a range of strategic and organizational issues including technology, corporate strategy, and governance.

Tarek has been based in our Chicago, Jakarta, and Sydney offices, and has served clients in the Americas, Asia, Europe, and the Middle East. He previously led our Middle East region as well as our North America media, technology, and telecommunications work.

Tarek is a member of the McKinsey Global Institute Council, which advises on MGI’s research on global economic, business, and technology trends. He is a regular speaker and panelist on the topics of technology, the future of work, gender parity and diversity in the workplace, and leadership development.

In his work outside of McKinsey, Tarek is a long-standing active board member of the Interfaith Youth Core, the largest interfaith youth organization in North America. He is also a founding chair of the 30% Club Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) chapter, which is dedicated to promoting female participation in executive suites and boards in the GCC. He serves as a director of the Board of Directors Institute in the Middle East and serves on the board of the Kellogg School at Northwestern University.

An Egyptian American born in the United States, Tarek spent much of his formative years between the United States and Egypt.
