Masaaki is one of the leaders of the Financial Services Practice in Japan and is the leader of the North Asia Insurance group. His clients include both multinational and domestic players in banking and securities and insurance.
Masaaki has worked on a wide range of issues for his clients in financial services, including strategy development, M&A due diligence, new-business development, and ground-level organization transformation. Recent work serving banks included leading a customer life-cycle management study for a retail bank operation in Japan as well as a corporate-strategy development project for another banking client.
In the insurance sector, where Masaaki spent considerable time before joining McKinsey, he led a sales excellence and channel-management effort as well as an initiative to improve the service operations of another Japanese insurance company.
Masaaki is a firm leader in understanding consumer behaviors as they relate to purchases of financial products, including identifying critical moments of truth and factors that drive customer satisfaction in the financial-services sector.
