About Marlene

Marlene is a partner in McKinsey’s Vienna office, where she is a key member of our Operations Practice and development excellence work. With more than ten years of experience in the engineering and consulting space, she leads major transformation programs in the automotive, rolling stock, semiconductor, and machinery sectors using deep knowledge of product development excellence. With a focus on footprint optimization, operating-model transformations, and capability building in AI, Marlene helps her clients optimize their overall product development performance.

Examples of Marlene’s recent client work include:

  • leading an end-to-end transformation of an engineering service provider, enhancing procurement excellence and engineering efficiency
  • achieving a 20 percent efficiency increase in engineering performance for a rolling stock player through footprint optimization and the rollout of gen AI solutions
  • creating 25 percent increase in value at an automotive supplier by streamlining the engineering portfolio and improving the Best-Cost-Country footprint
  • setting up software benchmarking for a premium OEM, enhancing the sourcing process for software tools, cloud, user interface, and advanced driver-assistance systems (ADAS)
  • streamlining the collaboration model among a semiconductor player, an OEM, and tier-1 suppliers by implementing end-to-end contracting, product forecasting, and inventory-management optimizations.

Before joining McKinsey, Marlene gathered vast experience in different industries, from the steel industry to automotive OEMs and suppliers. She is passionate about nurturing female talent in engineering and the broader STEM field, championing a platform for senior female executives and young professionals, for example, by hosting the annual Female Leadership Summit.
