Gustav serves clients in the telecommunications industry across all functional areas, with a specific focus on infrastructure strategy and regulation, covering issues such as network separation, spectrum allocation, fiber deployment, and network sharing.

Gustav leads our regulatory work across all industries in Asia and within telecommunications globally. He also leads our global spectrum-auction group.

Over the last 2 decades, Gustav has worked with more than 20 operators in almost as many countries, both in the capacity of consultant as well as in various management roles within multinational telecommunications companies.

Examples of his recent work include the following:

• supporting the design and execution of one of the few global cases of voluntary network separation
• advising clients on and running multiple spectrum auctions covering all formats
• helping a leading equipment manufacturer build a completely new business around public safety and private 5G networks
• assisting one of the world’s largest operators on a strategy for deploying network function virtualization

Gustav is particularly passionate about how telecommunication-infrastructure investments and well-designed regulation unleashes economic growth and substantial social benefits. He is a commonly invited speaker at conferences on the topic.

Gustav speaks English and Swedish at a native level, Japanese at intermediate level, and has basic mastery of Russian.
