Antonio is a partner in the firm’s Madrid office, where he coleads our infrastructure and energy work for Spain and Portugal. He is also a global leader of McKinsey Academy—our capability development platform—for companies in these industries.

Antonio joined the firm in 2010 and since then has primarily served companies in the engineering and construction, energy, mining, and logistics sectors. Prior to Madrid, he was part of McKinsey's offices in Boston and Mexico City, and has worked with clients in more than 30 countries across Europe, North America, Latin America, and the Middle East.

Antonio’s work centers on helping clients achieve significant improvements in their performance, across a wide variety of topics including strategy, organization, operations, digitization, and building the internal capabilities necessary to ensure sustainable change.

Examples of Antonio’s recent work include the following:

  • leading the operations transformation program for an international engineering and construction company, focusing on improving productivity, planning and programming methodology, and development of a performance management system for its projects, reducing costs by over 15 percent and increasing adherence to the construction plan
  • leading a turnaround program for the deep water business unit of an international oil and gas company, identifying opportunities for an annual impact of €400 million and capturing associated value on the purchasing and supply chain fronts
  • defining a five-year strategic plan for an international engineering and construction company and supporting implementation of initiatives deriving from it, capturing over $150 million in annual impact on the income statement through a set of operational levers—including value engineering practices and task digitization as well as organizational redesign
  • driving the operations transformation program for a world-leading gold mining company, identifying and implementing initiatives with annual savings of over €200 million for its mines in Canada, the United States, and Latin America

Antonio also leads the design and execution of capability development programs for the management teams of leading companies in the energy and infrastructure sectors, focusing on digital twin, 5D BIM, lean construction, Last Planner system, clean sheet review, planning, production control, performance management, and negotiation.

Antonio holds a degree in industrial engineering from Comillas Pontifical University (ICAI). He also has a Master's degree in business administration from Duke University’s Fuqua School of Business.
