Swiss Institute of International Studies

Founded in 1943, the Swiss Institute of International Studies is a politically and economically independent center of excellence based in Zurich, Switzerland. With its events, the institute seeks to serve as a platform for critical debate and thought leadership on current world topics, attracting world-renowned and top-class guest speakers from the fields of politics, business, academia, and culture.


McKinsey is excited to support the WORLDWEBFORUM as a knowledge partner. As Switzerland’s largest digital transformation conference, the WORLDWEBFORUM is a visionary platform for the global digital community, featuring high-profile executives from some of the world’s biggest tech companies. This collaboration enables us to showcase internationally the many ways in which our Firm has expanded its digital and analytics capabilities.


Venture is a competition designed to help budding Swiss entrepreneurs develop promising ideas into business plans—and ultimately into successful companies. Founded in 1998 by McKinsey, ETH Zurich, the Swiss Federal Commission for Technology and Innovation, and Knecht Holding, the competition runs every two years. Previous participants have founded more than 550 companies and created over 4,500 jobs.


In partnership with Ashoka, McKinsey supports Bookbridge in building new learning centers to bring quality education to people in need. We also provide real-life case studies for its Capability Program, which helps emerging leaders learn skills such as project planning, working with multiple stakeholders, and leading diverse teams in different cultural contexts.

The EspeRare Foundation

This nonprofit organization collaborates with patient groups and stakeholders to identify pharmacotherapies to alleviate rare diseases. Its approach is centered on patient engagement, with the goal of providing universal access to these new medicines. We helped EspeRare develop a business model, innovative value proposition, growth priorities, and methodology to assess its impact on public health.


This is the first program from the McKinsey Social Initiative, the firm’s nonprofit organization. It aims to improve the employment prospects for youth by presenting new ways to develop skills and job readiness for high-growth industries like healthcare, technology, customer service, sales and retail, and skilled trades. With programs in five countries, Generation’s initial goal is to connect one million young people with skills and jobs by 2020.
