When you ask folks at McKinsey what they love most about the firm, the answer is almost always, the people. That is certainly true for me. I’ve found the most amazing network of smart, generous, funny, and thoughtful women who have been my friends, sponsors, and support system through working in both Asia and the United States, managing three kids, and taking on many different roles at the firm from my early days as a business analyst to senior partner. The incredible community of women is one of the reasons I have been here for 18+ years and why we are all deeply committed to attracting the next generation of women leaders to McKinsey.

As a firm, we are committed to helping advance gender parity. We have invested more than $20 million in original research over the past decade establishing the connection between women’s inclusion and business success. If you are interested in this area of research, we have two recent pieces you might like. The first is the Future of Women at Work developed by our McKinsey Global Institute and a related op-ed that Liz Hilton Segel (the Managing Partner for North America) and I wrote in Fortune. The second piece is our recent Women in the Workplace report, conducted in partnership with LeanIn.org, the largest comprehensive study of the state of women in corporate America. Through our efforts, we’re helping drive the global dialogue in a positive way on women and their participation in the economy and business.

This research also informs our internal efforts to improve equality at McKinsey. Our program on women is called “All In,” reflecting that our whole community – men and women – are committed to creating an inclusive environment where women thrive and succeed. I am proud of the progress we’ve made and the programs we have, which include best-in-class flexibility, parental leave, inclusive leadership and unconscious bias training, all of which contribute to an environment where women and men experience the sponsorship they need to grow.

I hope to welcome you to our firm soon!
