Women Act

Creating sustainability in operations
Copenhagen, Denmark, March 9-11, 2023

We invite you apply to Women Act—creating sustainability in operations—taking place in Copenhagen from March 9-11, 2023.

What to expect

As a Women Act participant, you will gain insights into the various types of sustainability projects that our Operations Practice consultants in Europe work on.

During the event, you will have the opportunity to work on an interactive business case linked to a sustainability topic in operations. There will also be ample time to connect with McKinsey colleagues as well as like-minded women from across Europe in a relaxed setting.

On the second day of our program, we will visit CopenHill, a waste-to-energy power plant built in 2017 in Copenhagen's industrial area that was received the World Building of the Year 2021 award in the category Production, Energy and Recycling at the World Architecture Festival. After a guided plant tour, we will explore the rooftop slope where you will have the option to test your athletic talent on skis. This activity is suitable for beginners and no experience is required. For those who wish to opt out, you can simply enjoy the impressive view of Copenhagen at a height of 85 meters.

Meet some of our operations colleagues

“I decided to apply to McKinsey after attending a women in operations recruiting event, during which I met many wonderful people and learned about the breadth of projects as well as the global reach of the firm. I quickly realized that McKinsey is the type of place that supports diversity and would support me to grow and learn. So far, I have worked on a variety of projects, in many industries across different countries and on global teams.” – Yetty, associate, London

“I attended Women Act in 2020 and during this event I learned about the incredible work carried out by the Operations and Sustainability Practices. The openness and curiosity of the people along with the purposeful client work showed me that McKinsey was the right fit for me. I joined the firm as part of the Operations Excellence Program (OEP) where I have since been able to have a direct impact on topics, such as sustainability, that are important to me.” – Sarah, junior practice specialist, Hamburg
“What I really love about McKinsey is the amazing people. We are such a diverse firm with people from various countries, backgrounds, and cultures, all coming together to solve very complex problems. When I joined, I really wanted my work to be impactful and through my different projects I’ve been able to help and coach clients to make a real change. The best part is that I have been able to do it with amazing people, while learning and discovering something new every time.” – Hélène, associate, Brussels
