Maxime coleads our work in basic materials sector for Belgium, the Netherlands, and Luxemburg. He is also a leader of the basic materials insights team, which is the firm’s global commodities research center.

Since joining McKinsey in 2011, Maxime has pursued a passion for driving transformational impact in the industrial sector, working with metals, mining, paper, packaging, and construction-materials companies as well as private-equity funds.

Maxime helps executives address a range of transformation challenges, including increasing sustainability, deploying digital and analytics platforms, setting strategy, and boosting performance. To support end-to-end decarbonizing, he supports building new businesses and helps define circular solutions.

Maxime has worked with clients in more than 20 countries, mainly in Europe and North America, as well as in Africa, Asia, and the Middle East.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • delivering an end-to-end decarbonization transformation in steel
  • architecting a green materials business with an investor in Europe
  • setting up several digital and analytics platforms for a global metal company across regions, including in manufacturing and supply chain
  • leading a two-year cost transformation for a global paper producer in Europe, collaborating with management and a private-equity investor
  • developing scenarios to understand the future of the steel sector in Europe and assessing pathways for a sustainability transition
  • architecting a decarbonization strategy for a mining producer, including setting breakthrough decarbonization targets, roadmaps, and commitments

Maxime is a native French and Dutch speaker and is also fluent in English.
