Planetrics joins SLR Consulting
McKinsey is transferring ownership of Planetrics, a climate-modeling business it acquired in 2021, to SLR Consulting. Former Planetrics colleagues joined the London-based environmental consultancy on April 1.
Planetrics has been an integral part of McKinsey’s ongoing commitment to helping clients understand, navigate, and meet the challenges and opportunities presented by the net-zero transition. Over the past several years, Planetrics has helped leading banks, investors, insurers, and corporations quantify and manage climate-related risks and opportunities through customizable scenarios and asset-level insights reflecting real-world policy, technology, and market dynamics.
As part of the divestiture, Planetrics will join McKinsey’s open system of alliances—an ecosystem of specialist partners that work alongside our firm on client engagements, providing our clients with access to a world-class consortium of expertise.
“We are proud of what we have built at Planetrics and the impact we’ve delivered for clients during our time with McKinsey,” says Thomas Bremner Bligaard, McKinsey partner and Planetrics lead. “Our mission to help clients navigate climate risks and opportunities continues, and we are excited to expand our reach and capabilities with SLR.”
Hemant Ahlawat and Sanjay Kalavar, McKinsey senior partners and coleaders of McKinsey Sustainability, note, “Since 2021, Planetrics and McKinsey colleagues have worked together to help our clients pursue their net-zero commitments and further an inclusive, sustainable transition. This is mission-critical work at McKinsey, and we look forward to our continued collaboration with Planetrics and SLR.”
