The Ohio Department of Aging partnered with McKinsey to help expand access to services, improve quality of care, and increase transparency to empower older adults and their families to make better informed decisions.
What we achieved together
How we did it
Long-Term Care Quality Navigator: Launched in February 2024, this digital platform has received national recognition and assists residents and families in navigating Ohio’s nursing homes based on location, ratings, and healthcare coverage. The platform has facilitated the placement of more than 100,000 people in nursing homes and was expanded to include assisted living facilities in February 2025.
Data-driven solutions: Supported the state’s task force on nursing home quality in identifying solutions to establish a new care standard, including setting quality standards, expanding technical assistance, and creating data-driven dashboards to track quality and changes over time. The task force’s more than 20 recommendations were informed by over 100 interviews and convenings across seven cities and best practices from all 50 states.
