Coleads S&CF Insights, McKinsey’s center of competence for financial- and capital-market analysis, and leads two digital capabilities, MineSpans and MineLens

As a partner in McKinsey’s New York office, Chris coleads the Strategy & Corporate Finance Practice’s center of competence for financial- and capital-market analysis called S&CF Insights. He is also the leader of two digital capabilities: MineSpans, which provides managers and investors with the cost curves and supply and demand models needed to make strategic, operational, and financial mining decisions, and MineLens, which provides mine operators with the strategic business intelligence needed to identify, quantify, and prioritize value-creation opportunities.

Chris brings entrepreneurial rigor to driving to scale new products that elevate client experience. His focus is on delivering analytical insights at the intersection of strategy, finance, macroeconomics, and operations transformation in the basic-materials industry. He has rich experience in using analytics to frame, diagnose, and set strategy to deliver value for clients.

Examples of his recent client work include the following:

  • working with mine operators and owners to identify gaps in operating potential and understand how to close them, leading to a double-digit percentage cost savings
  • leading corporate performance analytics to serve hundreds of clients each year to understand industry trends and conduct financial-performance benchmarking

Prior to joining McKinsey, Chris held numerous positions across the communications, information-services, financial, consumer, media, and technology sectors, including as a cofounder of a start-up and senior positions in investment banking.

Chris has also been a guest lecturer at the University of Exeter Business School.
