Leads McKinsey’s work globally in private equity and digital, analytics, and technology in the insurance industry


Ramnath works extensively with financial-services and private-equity firms on a range of topics including strategy, growth, investment thesis, enterprise-value creation , M&A, digital, and analytics. He serves clients across the globe, including in North and South America, India, Japan, China, and Southeast Asia.

Ramnath leads our work in insurance with private-equity sponsors and portfolio companies around the world. He helps private-equity firms create value in the broader insurance ecosystem including permanent, capital-based models.

As coleader of the global insurance digital, analytics, and technology group, Ramnath is responsible for building and leading a team of dedicated digital and analytics practitioners focused on solving the toughest problems in the insurance industry by bringing cutting-edge data science, technology capabilities, and expertise. He also leads the build out of McKinsey's insurance risk and actuarial capabilities to serve insurers on balance sheet transformations.

Every year, Ramnath hosts dialogues with CEOs and presidents of life and annuities insurers to discuss a range of strategic topics related to the industry, and convenes with insurance executives annually at leadership forums hosted by McKinsey. He also regularly speaks on the topics of private equity and digital and analytics in insurance to the media and at industry conferences.

Ramnath joined McKinsey in 2003 in the Mumbai office where he led the firm’s insurance-sector work, and has been based in New York since 2014.
