Jay is a partner in McKinsey’s Seoul office and leads the firm’s Life Sciences Practice in South Korea. He works with Asian conglomerates and life sciences clients to help improve their financial performance and transform their way of working. He helps leading companies find new business opportunities as their next growth engines from emerging technology trends, convergences and disruptions such as connectivity, autonomy/automation, and new modalities.
Some of his recent client work includes the following:
- develop a new disruptive-technology-based business for a leading South Korean conglomerate
- partnered with a South Korean conglomerate on a two-year journey to identify new business opportunities in the bio/healthcare business, including building the business plan and supporting acquisition/post-merger integration in the contract development and manufacturing organization business
- ran a three-year performance enhancement program for a major South Korean pharmaceutical company, aiming to boost its profitability to match that of top-tier global pharmaceutical companies while driving a comprehensive change management program
- developed a go-to-market strategy for a product portfolio shift to oncology, including creating a business model and capabilities to build a strong presence in the specialty oncology space for a multinational pharma corporation in South Korea
Prior to joining McKinsey, Jay served as vice president at LG Electronics in the United States and a manager at Bain & Company in Seoul and Tokyo.
