Ian joined McKinsey in 2020, in the London Office. He has deep experience working in technology-disrupted media and entertainment industries. Examples of Ian’s past experience include leading a transformation for a linear radio business, leading a team to double sales though organic growth and market-share gain while operating in a declining market, and creating new digital product strategies and market development as well as diversification through acquisitions into new markets.
He has led significant cost-focused turnarounds and projects, and has experience in substantive technology transformations introducing new architectures, tools, and processes to remove duplication and deliver new capabilities. Ian has also led significant procurement initiatives, alongside creation of shared service centers serving multiple geographies.
Ian also brings experience in other areas including: digital supply chain, multi-territory printing, manufacturing, distribution redesign and outsourcing, sales and marketing, trade marketing restructuring, and merger integration.
Prior to joining McKinsey, Ian served as the COO of Global, one of the UK's leading media and entertainment companies. Before that, he spent six years at Daily Mail Group Trust as COO of DMG Media and later as CEO of Evenbase, their portfolio of digital classified recruitment businesses. Ian also has an extensive background in the music industry, having worked for EMI in a series of senior roles, culminating in his appointment as COO of EMI Music Worldwide in 2007.
