David Ware

Supports digital and analytics transformations in the defense sector, and brings cybersecurity expertise to both private and public sector clients

David is a partner in McKinsey’s Washington, DC office and one of the leaders of our work in McKinsey Digital, cybersecurity, core technology, and the public sector. He also serves pharmaceutical, medical products, and healthcare companies on technology and security issues.

Examples of David’s recent client work include the following:

  • designing automation and digitization into key processes for a public-sector defense organization
  • working with a pharmaceutical company to develop strategy and operations for cybersecurity, data loss prevention, insider threat, and outsourcing
  • defining a data and analytics strategy and roadmap for a public-sector defense organization
  • helping a healthcare company design a cybersecurity strategy that balances reducing risk with easing friction to improve business enablement
  • supporting a public-sector defense organization in determining how to modernize a major technology platform

David has also served clients in financial services, technology and telecommunications, insurance, and utilities, and has addressed challenges in strategy, organization design, operations, and customer experience.

Outside his client work, David helps to advance McKinsey’s thinking on cybersecurity, analytics, AI, and digital transformation. He has researched and published a number of articles on cybersecurity and given keynote presentations at major industry conferences in North America, Latin America, and Europe.

Prior to joining McKinsey, David worked as a research assistant in the AI lab at the University of Arizona, where he earned a degree in mathematics and management information systems.
