In this role, you will take full ownership of professional development and staffing for a cohort of approximately 50 early-tenure consultants (Analysts and Interns), working closely with consultants, partners, and other team members.
As a member of the Mexico Professional Development team, you will be based in our Mexico City office. McKinsey Mexico is home to over 200 talented consultants—professionals who work across a wide range of sectors and functional areas, driving distinctive, large-scale client impact.
You will develop and continuously update a strong understanding of Mexico’s core industries, sectors, functional practices, key clients, and staffing pools to ensure the best of the firm is brought to each engagement. Your work will help ensure that consultants are staffed in teams where they can leverage their expertise, gain opportunities to learn and grow, and have a positive team experience. Simultaneously, you will support Engagement Directors (EDs) and Engagement Managers (EMs) in navigating staffing needs, identifying the best-fit profiles, and assembling teams accordingly.
You will monitor each consultant's development, career progression, and other career-related topics as they arise. You will also support consultants in understanding feedback from both formal and informal processes related to their staffing and evaluations. Additionally, you will play a key role in the semi-annual performance review process, leading the local committee for your cohort and collaborating closely with the Committee Chair and Development Group Leaders (DGLs) to ensure a smooth process and timely delivery of feedback to consultants.
Building strong, trust-based relationships with consultants will be a critical part of your role. This includes gaining an in-depth understanding of their professional aspirations, experiences, strengths, development needs, and personal skills. You will develop the capabilities needed to effectively guide and support consultants throughout their journey and staffing assignments.
You will also manage and report information in the required systems, perform analyses on your cohort, and contribute to the office’s people strategy. Additionally, you will take on responsibility for a variety of ad hoc and special projects initiated by the office leader, professional development leaders, and other key stakeholders. These projects may include, but are not limited to, initiatives related to Team Experience (The Way We Work), Diversity and Inclusion, professional content for Values Days, and other topics that benefit the People Function and broader People-related efforts.
