Before McKinsey, Dennis , a senior implementation coach in Chicago, was a plant superintendent and productivity manager at a Fortune 250 chemical company. Recently, he has been working with energy clients to improve their operations:

“What excites me most about McKinsey Implementation is the team environment. I’m at my best when I’m surrounded by great people, and McKinsey Implementation has given me the opportunity to work side-by-side with amazing colleagues and clients. Everyone is high caliber, totally committed, and fully supportive of each other. For example, on my last engagement my first objective was to increase transparency into performance by introducing key management metrics at a startup company. A teammate, despite having to pause his own work and complete it later that night, spent several hours coaching me how to design and implement performance management for my pilot area. With increased transparency, we quickly developed a better understanding of the bottlenecks and where to focus our efforts going forward to increase output.

Candidly, the work is challenging but incredibly rewarding since I’m helping to solve some of the world’s toughest business problems. Pivoting my career last year was a tough choice, but I’m so glad I did it. MI is an amazing place to be inspired and develop, both professionally and personally. Looking back, I can’t believe how much I’ve learned and the friendships I’ve made over the last nine months.”
