Second–year business analyst from our Singapore office Shihui, loves to chat over a cup of hot chocolate.

You recently returned to McKinsey. Where were you?

I recently took a six–month leave to train full–time with the Singapore Squash team and represent Singapore in the 2017 Southeast Asian Games. I won gold, silver and bronze medals in the jumbo doubles, team and international doubles. I returned to the firm in September and I am so excited to be back.

What was your favorite moment from this week?

I love spending time with my team and clients outside of work. We had a team event this week, and my team and our client had dinner in a “dine in the dark” restaurant. It was completely pitch dark! It was much fun to get to know each other at a personal level while guessing what we were eating.

What was the most difficult moment of the week?

Saying goodbye to a teammate who is rolling off our team to start another engagement.

What was your best team interaction this week?

Bringing my teammate (from Jakarta) out for dinner and drinks in Singapore. We both appreciate food and wine and had a great time hanging out.

What did you have for lunch?

Japanese. My client site is at a business park with lots of food choices.

What are you drinking and why?

Hot chocolate for sure. I am obsessed with it despite the hot weather in Singapore. I picked it up while I was in college in the US and the habit stuck.

What is special about the office you are in now?

Singapore is large enough that I’m meeting someone new from time to time as people travel through Singapore, and small enough to feel close–knit and intimate.

What are your weekend plans?

Friday drinks in the office are a must, as everyone flies home for our in–office day. I love hanging out with my friends and reconnecting every week. I try to work out during the weekend; recently I started playing golf.

What type of music makes you feel motivated?

Tropical chill music – reminds me of being on holiday and motivates me to work extra hard.
