Bill Yau is a partner in McKinsey’s Philadelphia office and a leader in McKinsey’s North America Social Sector, Healthcare, and Public Sector Practices. With a focus on healthcare, he collaborates across public, private, and social sectors serving clients such as public health agencies, payors, providers, and healthcare services organizations. Bill’s passion lies in the convergence of healthcare and technology, where he guides organizations to develop strategies that enhance the overall experience and delivery of healthcare services.

Prior to joining McKinsey, Bill amassed a decade of experience in consumer tech, mobile apps, and digital realms. His expertise spans consulting, venture capital, and start-ups, leveraging a rich background in the landscape of technology and innovation.

Examples of Bill’s recent work includes:

  • helping a public health agency define its department strategy, including investments across data and analytics, workforce, program expansion, and community engagement
  • working with a public health agency to develop a performance governance and framework to facilitate funding and major project management
  • collaborating to create the right-to-win strategy for a large health plan, with focus on geographic expansion and diversification
  • aiding in the transformation of a not-for-profit health plan, with a focus on continuously developing and executing administrative and technology opportunities
  • serving a healthcare client to create a diligence process for growing a technology asset, including a detailed assessment of the target with strategic and financial cases for partnership
  • assisting a large regional healthcare coalition in identifying ways to improve health and wellness, with emphasis on affordability, access, and quality for underserved populations
