Sumit is a partner in McKinsey’s Tokyo office, where he helps leading financial institutions, technology companies, and investors reimagine how technology creates value. An entrepreneur at heart, a technology builder, and a transformation leader, he brings more than 25 years of experience challenging conventional thinking, building new businesses, and helping global enterprises navigate fundamental technology shifts.
Throughout his career, Sumit has been drawn to the intersection of emerging technology, entrepreneurship, and large-scale transformation. An early pioneer in enterprise cloud computing, he helped organizations rethink technology infrastructure before cloud became mainstream. At MuleSoft, he played a foundational role in creating and scaling its API platform business, helping establish a new paradigm for how enterprises connect systems, data, and digital ecosystems. He subsequently founded two technology ventures, reinforcing his conviction that meaningful innovation requires both the imagination to challenge established models and the determination to build something better.
Today, Sumit brings this builder’s mindset to complex enterprise transformations, working with senior executives to modernize technology foundations, reshape engineering organizations, harness AI, and turn ambitious visions into tangible business outcomes. His experience across Silicon Valley, Japan, and India informs his passion for connecting global innovation ecosystems.
Beyond his professional work, Sumit is driven by a deeply personal ambition: to harness technology and collective human ingenuity to create a more harmonious relationship between humanity and the natural world. He believes the next frontier of innovation lies not only in making organizations more intelligent and productive, but also in helping society better understand the broader consequences of its choices for people, communities, and the planet.
