Nuo leads the McKinsey Client Capabilities Hub in Shanghai, including more than 100 knowledge professionals in four locations and nine geographic-research-analysis teams across North and Southeast Asia. She joined the firm as a junior analyst in 2001 and then served as a knowledge expert in the Basic Materials Practice before stepping into her current role.
Nuo is responsible for setting the hub’s strategic direction, including defining priorities for new capabilities, developing new service lines and delivery models, and recruiting and developing top talent. She oversees the day-to-day operations of the hub to ensure a positive and nurturing working environment and leads training and recruitment efforts. Nuo has helped develop the hub’s reputation as one of the top destinations for knowledge professionals, in part by establishing intellectual exchanges and collaborations with top research institutes and universities around the world.
Nuo is also responsible for people development, coaching, and mentoring knowledge professionals across the region. She has worked with senior colleagues across McKinsey to help create diverse career paths within the global Client Capabilities Network, which offers multiple opportunities for growth, including content-focused knowledge roles, people-leadership positions, and potential transfers to the consulting career path.
In addition to her day-to-day activities, Nuo founded a new knowledge hub in Jakarta in 2014, which she has steadily grown to a team of ten professionals. With the support of McKinsey’s advanced analytics teams in North America and Europe, she also founded an advanced analytics center in Shanghai to serve clients in the areas of big data, data mining, and data optimization.
